This spring, we are launching several new cross-country routes and creating more options for seamless global shipping connections — as well as increasing capacity across our shared Alaska Air Cargo-Hawaiian Air Cargo network.
These are a few of the exciting shipping opportunities coming over the next few months:
New cross-country routes
On March 17, Alaska Air Cargo becomes the first passenger airline with nonstop service between San Diego (SAN) and Reagan International Airport (DCA). Later this spring, we will also begin service between San Diego and Medford, Oregon (MFR), giving us more nonstop flights from San Diego than any passenger airline.
And on May 15, we begin daily nonstop flights between Portland (PDX) and Houston (IAH) – our third Texas destination from Portland, joining existing service to Dallas (DFW) and Austin (AUS). This route provides a new option for companies shipping equipment and supplies between Texas and Prudhoe Bay (SCC), on Alaska’s North Slope.

Expanded capacity to Hawai’i and Alaska
In late April, three of our six daily nonstop flights between Seattle (SEA) and Honolulu (HNL) will be on our widebody A330 Hawaiian Airlines aircraft. Daily widebody service between Seattle and Maui (OGG) will also be offered year-round.
And in June, we will launch nonstop cargo service on our passenger flights between Ontario (ONT) and Honolulu, expanding our airfreight options between Southern California and Hawai’i.
Looking ahead to summer: We will increase our widebody capacity between Anchorage (ANC) and Seattle during the peak fishing season, creating more opportunities for streamlined connections between the state of Alaska and global destinations.
New global connections
In mid-May, we will launch our first international long-haul shipping service between Seattle and Tokyo Narita (NRT). In addition, our expanded belly-cargo capacity between the West Coast and Honolulu will create new options for seamless connections between the U.S. and destinations across our global network.
